What is the role of a excavation marshall banksperson?

An excavation marshall banksperson has the knowledge to be able to efficiently and effectively monitor and control the work and movement of mechanical excavators on a work site in accordance with company procedures. This is included in the NPORS Excavation Marshall Banksperson training – N027

Theory assessment:
  • 20 multiple choice questions
  • 5 written questions
  • 4 marks per question
  • 80% pass mark required
Practical assessment criteria:
  • Pre use and operational checks of work area
  • Hand dig zone prior to machine excavating
  • Communication agreed before work starts
  • Signal to machine operator start, stop, position spoil
  • Signal to machine operator shutting procedure
  • Pass mark is less than 20 penalty points and no mandatory disqualifications
  • Training and testing over 1 day
